A formal remembrance
Joshua Lowell Oakes, 37, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017. Born in Somerset on February 16, 1980, Josh built a life rooted in service to others — first through his work in the U.S. Navy as an avionics technician and later as a dedicated employee at Graham Packaging.
Josh was a loving husband to Alisha Oakes and a devoted father to his daughters, Jazmyn MacKenzie Oakes and Savanah Breann Oakes. Family and close friends remember him through the ordinary, meaningful moments of daily life: showing up for those he loved, sharing time with his children, and caring for the people closest to him.
A funeral service was held on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, with burial following at Buncombe Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service.
