Remembering Joseph

A life held close in memory

Joseph Maxwell Carter was born June 28, 1986, and was known in his community for the quiet loyalty he showed to his family. He cherished his role as husband to Mary and father to their daughters Zoey, Chloe and little Alice, and his life centered on the practical, steady care he showed those closest to him.

Friends and family remember Joseph for the ordinary kindnesses that mattered most — being present at home, tending to daily responsibilities, and putting his family first. Those who knew him speak of a man who carried his commitments with a low-key strength and who valued the small routines that knit a household together.

Joseph was raised by his parents; he was preceded in death by his father, Galen Hall Carter, and is survived by his mother, Caroline, as well as his siblings Rebecca and Ben. In Del Rio, he was part of a close-knit circle of neighbors and relatives who shared in the everyday moments of life in a rural Tennessee community.

A visitation and funeral service were held under the care of Manes Funeral Home in Newport, Tennessee, where family and friends gathered to honor his memory and offer support to Mary and their daughters. Those services reflected the steady love Joseph gave to his family and the community’s wish to wrap them in care during their loss.

Joseph’s life is remembered for the central place his family held in it. While words cannot fill the space left by his absence, those who loved him recall his devotion to home and family — a quiet legacy that lives on in the children he raised and the relationships he nurtured.
