Remembering Jose

A life held close in memory

Jose Ervin Jr., born August 18, 1992, was cherished by his family and a close circle of friends for his deep commitment to those he loved. He and his wife, Scierra, celebrated a special family milestone when they welcomed twins who share the same birthday as their parents — a memory the family treasured. At the time of his passing, the couple was expecting their third child, and his family and community have rallied around Scierra and the children in the months since.

Jose is remembered first as a family man: a husband who loved his wife and a devoted father to his young children. Those who knew him recall his pride in his growing family and the joy he took from everyday moments with them. The family entrusted Lucas Memorial Chapel with arrangements; a Celebration of Life service was held at Harvest Time Evangelistic Church, and friends and relatives gathered to honor his memory.

In the days after his death, family, friends and neighbors expressed how much Jose’s presence meant to them — from celebrations shared on birthdays to the quiet support of loved ones during ordinary days. A GoFundMe was established to help support his wife and children as they navigate the loss and the practical challenges that followed.

Though taken too soon, Jose’s place in his family’s story endures in the memories they hold: the birthdays they celebrated together, the anticipation of a new child, and the daily love he showed as a husband and father. He is remembered with affection and held in the hearts of those who loved him.

Jose was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
