Obituary
A formal remembrance
Jose Ayala Jr., 48, of Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away on March 11, 2022. Born April 10, 1973, in Corpus Christi to Jose Ignacio and Mary Jane Ayala, Jose brought warmth and simple joys into the lives of those around him.
Family was central to Jose. He treasured time with his four children — Destiny, Desiray, Amanda and Jojo — and delighted in moments small and true: teaching, sharing meals he’d prepared, and making birdhouses that found places in the yards and porches of family and friends. Those who knew him remember a man who loved the water and a good day of fishing, enjoyed tending outdoor spaces, and often cut yards or helped with chores for elderly neighbors without asking for anything in return.
Jose’s life was marked by practical kindness and steady presence. He took pleasure in rides on his motorcycle, walks with his dogs, and the company of his truck. Childhood memories of riding horses and selling chickens stayed with him and were stories he carried into adulthood.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Ayala, and grandparents Carolina Vela Bundez and Pepe Villerial. He is survived by his father, Jose (Joe) Ignacio Ayala; daughters Amanda, Desiray and Destiny; son Jojo; sister Yvonne Hynes; brothers Robert and Anthony Ayala; and grandchildren Samuel, Nalani, Nathalia Hinojosa and Nevaeh Saavedra.
Those who loved Jose recall a man whose talents and small acts of service mattered deeply to a close-knit circle of family and neighbors. He will be remembered for his craft, his generosity, and the everyday ways he made life easier and kinder for the people he loved. Online condolences were made available through the family’s funeral home.
