Remembering Jonathan
A life held close in memory
Jonathan Perez (February 17, 1985 – June 5, 2016) was a devoted son, husband, brother, uncle and a man whose life centered on service to others. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Jonathan carried a strong sense of duty that led him first to serve as an Army combat medic and later to pursue his dream of police service. He graduated with Session 64 of the Police Academy and became a respected member of the Metro Nashville Police Department, receiving multiple commendations during his tenure.
Family and friends remember Jonathan for his warmth, his love of music, and his ready laugh. He enjoyed sharing time with relatives and had a reputation for generosity — quick to celebrate with a toast and to stand beside those in need. His family took pride in his military background and in the commitment he showed every day to his brothers and sisters in uniform.
Jonathan’s life was celebrated by those who knew him most. Services were held at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in Nashville, where family and the community gathered to honor his life and the ways he served others. The gatherings reflected the affection many felt for him: as a man who treasured family connections, who pursued service as a calling, and who left an impression through small, caring acts.
Though his passing on June 5, 2016, was a deep loss to his loved ones and his community, Jonathan’s memory endures in the stories shared by family and colleagues — of a man who sought to protect and care for others, who loved music and life’s simple moments, and who will be remembered for his commitment to service and to those closest to him.
