Obituary

A formal remembrance

John Jay “JJ” Flores Jr., born May 31, 1993, is remembered as a young man whose bright smile and easy laugh left an impression on everyone who knew him. Cherished as a son and brother, JJ was surrounded by family who loved him deeply. He was the child of John Jay Flores Sr. and Amanda Perryman Evans and carried with him the close bonds of grandparents, siblings, cousins, and many friends in the Big Spring community.

JJ’s family recalled many ways his presence warmed everyday moments: a grin that lifted spirits, a sense of humor that eased tensions, and a loyalty to those he loved. Those who gathered to honor him described a gentle, spirited person whose small acts of kindness mattered to people around him. His life was celebrated by parents, grandparents, siblings, extended family and friends who remembered his energy and the joy he could bring to a room.

Funeral services to honor John Jay were arranged by Myers & Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Big Spring, with visitation held on August 13, 2026 and a service on August 14, 2026. A private family burial followed at Mount Olive Cemetery. Pallbearers included brothers and cousins who stood with the family in remembrance.

Though his life was cut far too short, JJ’s memory remains with those who loved him — in remembered laughter, family stories, and quiet acts of care. For those who wish to honor his life, the family provided opportunities to share memories and condolences through the funeral home and memorial pages set up to celebrate his life. John Jay “JJ” Flores Jr. will be remembered for the light he brought to family gatherings and the small, meaningful ways he showed up for the people he loved.
