Jesus Lopez

Jesus A. Lopez, 27, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 14, 2019. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Yvonne Rizo; his husband, Jose; and his children, Estrella, Jesus, and Louella. Jesus was also cherished by his brother, Joseph Romero; nieces and nephews including Sabrina and Joseph Jr.; and by his fiancée, Monica Maestas, and her children Evangeline, Lanae, and Isaac.

Family, home, and community were central to Jesus’s life. Those who knew him recall his close bonds with the people around him and the steady presence he provided to his children and extended family. As a lifelong Albuquerque resident, he was part of the neighborhood fabric — a son, brother, partner, and father whose everyday commitments mattered deeply to those closest to him.

A visitation was held to honor Jesus’s memory at St. Anne Catholic Church on January 25, 2019, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends and relatives gathered to celebrate his life, share memories, and offer comfort to one another.

Though his time was far too short, Jesus’s importance within his family remains. He is remembered for the warmth he gave his children, the support he offered his loved ones, and the everyday connections that defined his life. May his memory continue to bring comfort and strength to his family and friends, and may the love he shared be remembered with gratitude.
