Remembering Jesse

A life held close in memory

Jesse Alexander Trejos, remembered for his radiant smile and warm, joyful spirit, passed away on May 18, 2016, at the age of 20. A native of Baton Rouge, Jesse was deeply proud of his Cuban and Panamanian roots and carried that heritage with quiet pride. He loved being active — playing football and soccer, spending time skateboarding, and sharing playful wrestling matches with his younger brother Dylan.

Jesse had many small passions that reflected his curious, social nature: he enjoyed attending music festivals, collecting pins, practicing gloving, and playing online video games with his friends. Those who knew him recall his contagious laugh, playful sense of humor, and a kind, loving heart that made him a loyal friend and treasured son.

He is survived by his parents, Imirsy Sanchez Trejos and Alex Trejos; his brother, Dylan Trejos; his maternal grandparents, Juan and Mirta Sanchez; his paternal grandmother, Carolina Hernandez de Trejos; and a circle of aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Artemio Trejos. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Jesse’s life with visitation and a funeral Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, followed by burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Though gone far too soon, Jesse’s joy for life, his laughter, and the warmth he shared remain in the memories of those who loved him. He believed in enjoying life to the fullest, and his family asks that his memory be honored by holding close the happiness he gave so freely.
