Remembering Jaylin

A life held close in memory

Jaylin J. Craig (Sept. 2, 1997 — April 23, 2024) will be remembered for the energy and hope he brought to those around him. A 2015 graduate of Mary G. Montgomery High School, Jaylin—often called "JJ" by those close to him—pursued his entrepreneurial goals with a bright, determined spirit. He carried a love of football that connected him to teammates and friends and gave him a sense of community and purpose.

Family was central to Jaylin’s life. He is survived by his mother, Jacquett Brown Harris, his father, Jason (Denise) Craig, brothers Javon Connor and Phillip (Jalin) Lewis, and grandparents Mary Francis Craig, Jacqueline Bradford, and Jack Brown Sr., along with a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who cherished him. Those who knew Jaylin recall his kindness, ambition, and the encouragement he offered others as he pursued his ventures.

Funeral services were held at B.E. Brown & Co. Mortuary in Mobile, Alabama, with visitations on May 1 and 2 and a funeral service on May 2, 2024. The family invited remembrances and condolences through the funeral home’s memorial page.

Jaylin’s family asked that his life be honored by remembering the qualities that defined him: his entrepreneurial drive, his loyalty to friends and family, and his love of the game that brought people together. Though his life was taken far too soon, the memories he made with those who loved him remain. May his spirit be at peace and his memory a comfort to all who loved him.
