Jaylan Sarah Hasty

Jaylan Sarah Hasty was born April 22, 1994. She lived in Columbia, South Carolina, and was cherished by family and friends for her caring spirit and the love she showed to those closest to her. Jaylan’s family described her as a devoted mother whose presence brought joy and comfort to her children and loved ones.

Funeral services were held under the care of JP Holley Funeral Home, with a visitation on September 1, 2023 and a funeral service on September 2, 2023 at Journey Methodist Church. She was laid to rest at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. Those who knew Jaylan remember her for the everyday kindnesses and small, meaningful ways she supported family and friends.

In the weeks and months after her passing, Jaylan’s family has worked to honor her memory by raising awareness of domestic violence and supporting others facing similar struggles. Her mother, Monica Hatton, helped create a memorial space where family and friends could share memories and celebrate Jaylan’s life.

Jaylan’s life is remembered by those who loved her for the love she gave and the connections she nurtured. Her family invites those who wish to honor her to carry forward acts of compassion and to support resources that help families in crisis. Jaylan’s memory lives on in the hearts of her children, her family, and the community she touched.
