Remembering Jason

A life held close in memory

Jason Floyd Baker of Phil Campbell, Alabama, was born September 15, 1979, and passed away January 6, 2019. A loving father of Gage, Leela and Layla Baker, Jason was also a devoted son to Floyd and Janet Baker and a brother to Justin and Shayla. He grew up in the area and remained closely connected to family and community throughout his life.

Those who knew Jason remember his place at the center of family gatherings and the quiet ways he cared for those closest to him. He treasured time with his grandparents and extended family, and he is remembered by a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who counted him as kin and friend.

Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill Church with visitation at Akins Funeral Home. He was laid to rest at East Franklin Cemetery. Pallbearers included family and friends who came together to honor his life.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather Kenneth Harrelson and several great-grandparents. He is survived by his children, his parents Floyd and Janet Baker, his grandparents Ralton and Carolyn Baker and Tilda Harrelson, his great-grandmother Era Mae Clark, his siblings Justin Baker (Wensalee) and Shayla Baker Taylor (TJ), and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

While words cannot fully capture a life, Jason’s family remembers him for the bonds he shared and the place he held in their lives. He is lovingly remembered by those who will carry his memory forward.
