Remembering Jarvis

A life held close in memory

Jarvis Darius Wilder (February 1, 1990 – October 3, 2018) was a treasured son and a member of the Rockford community. Born in Elgin, Illinois to Samuel Wilder and Pamela Whiteside, Jarvis carried his family's love with him throughout his life. Those who knew him remember a young man who brought energy to gatherings and who was deeply connected to his family.

Family was central to Jarvis. He is survived by his mother, Pamela Whiteside, his father Samuel Wilder, and other relatives and friends who remember him with affection. In the weeks after his passing, family and friends gathered to celebrate Jarvis's life and to share memories of his kindness, his smile, and the moments — both small and significant — that revealed the person he was.

A celebration of life was held on October 13, 2018, at Honquest Family Funeral Homes in Loves Park, where loved ones spoke of Jarvis's place in their lives and laid him to rest at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin. The services reflected the family's wish to honor Jarvis respectfully and to gather with those who cared for him.

Jarvis's family has asked that remembrances focus on the warmth he brought to others and on the love they continue to hold for him. He is remembered not only for the life he lived but for the lasting imprint he left with family and friends.

Those wishing to mark Jarvis's memory were invited to offer condolences through the funeral home’s tribute pages and by sharing stories that keep his presence alive in the hearts of those who loved him.
