Obituary
A formal remembrance
Jared M. Ulinski (October 11, 1976 – July 31, 2021) served the people of Ohio for more than two decades as a sergeant with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Born in Seville, Ohio, to John and Sandra (Schump) Ulinski, Jared built a life centered on family and public service. He married Anna Basinger on March 9, 2019, and was a loving father to five daughters: Gabrielle, Aubreigh, Aydan, Nora, and Piper.
Jared began his career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol in June 1999 as a member of the 134th Academy Class and received his commission later that year. Over the years he served at multiple posts and took on leadership roles, including serving as Assistant Post Commander for the Findlay Post. Colleagues remember him for his steady professionalism and commitment to the community he served.
Beyond his uniform, Jared’s life was anchored by his family. He took joy in the everyday rhythms of home life and in being present for his wife and daughters. Those who knew him recall a man who cared deeply for his loved ones and who approached his responsibilities—at work and at home—with quiet dedication.
A funeral Mass was held on August 6, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic, Ohio, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends and family gathered to honor his life and the many ways he mattered to those closest to him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were directed to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Findlay and the Nazarene Fund, reflecting causes important to the family.
Jared’s passing left a profound void for his family, friends, and the Patrol community. He is mourned not only for his public service but for the everyday kindnesses and the deep ties of love and responsibility he carried as a husband and father. His memory lives on in the lives of his children and in the community he served.
