James Michael Rivas

James Michael Rivas, born December 29, 1989, in Bellflower, California, passed away on May 21, 2024. He was 34 years old. A devoted son and cherished brother, James was known to his family for his quiet strength and the steady presence he offered at family gatherings.

James grew up in the Southland and rooted his life in close relationships with those around him. He is survived by his parents, Francisco Rivas III and Vivian Leidelmeijer (Richard Leidelmeijer), his siblings Hans Leidelmeijer, Naomi Rivas, Tine Santa Ana, Anthony Santa Ana, and several step-siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to James, and he is remembered for the care he showed his relatives and the small everyday ways he brightened their lives.

A visitation to honor James’s life was held on June 3, 2024, at St. Paul of the Cross in La Mirada, followed by a rosary and Mass. Those services gave loved ones a place to gather, share memories, and celebrate the warmth James brought to their lives.

Though his time was cut far too short, James is remembered for the relationships he nurtured and the dependable, loving presence he offered his family. His memory lives on in the stories, traditions, and quiet moments his family and friends will carry forward.
