Remembering James
A life held close in memory
James Allan Bannister, 24, of Princeton and Cadiz area, died on July 3, 2020. Born April 23, 1996 in Chicago, Illinois, James was known to family and friends for his steady presence and the simple pleasures that brought him joy: hunting, playing dominoes and video games, and spending time with the people he loved.
A son to Anthony Bannister and the late Kathryn (Drennan) Bannister, James worked at Hydro-Gear in Princeton as a wash system operator, where he was a reliable member of the team. Outside of work he enjoyed pastimes that connected him with friends and family, and he treasured time spent close to home in Lyon County.
James is remembered by his father, Anthony Bannister; his brother, J.T. Bannister; his uncle, Randy Bannister; and his fiancée, Donna Wright, who all survive him. Those who loved him recall a young man who preferred companionship and simple traditions to loud attention — someone who took pleasure in everyday moments and in being near the people who mattered most.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz, with visitation beginning July 8, 2020 and a service on July 9, 2020. The family provided a live-stream of the service for those who could not attend in person, honoring James’s memory while welcoming the comfort of community.
Though his life was far too brief, James’s warmth and the ordinary acts of care he showed to family and friends remain. Those who knew him carry forward memories of his gentle loyalty and the quiet ways he brightened days. He is remembered with love and respect by his family and community.
