Remembering Jamarqari

A life held close in memory

Jamarqari Alexander Burris (August 25, 2003 — November 20, 2025) is remembered as a caring, joyful presence whose love for his children and family defined him. A son of Baton Rouge, Jamarqari was known among relatives and friends for his ready smile and easy laugh — the kind of person who could lift a room with small acts of kindness and a playful joke. Those closest to him described him as having a “heart of gold,” someone who made people feel seen and welcomed.

As a young father of two, Jamarqari took great pride in his role with his children. Family tributes and community messages speak of his devotion, his gentle patience, and the everyday moments he cherished: time with his children, laughter shared with friends, and being a dependable presence for those he loved. His generosity and friendliness earned him the description of an “everybody’s person,” and he leaves behind a circle of family and neighbors who remember him for the warmth he brought to ordinary days.

In the weeks after his passing, loved ones gathered to celebrate Jamarqari’s life and to support one another as they grieved. Funeral arrangements were made locally, giving family and community members the opportunity to share memories, offer condolences, and honor the bond he shared with his children and relatives.

Though his life was far too short, Jamarqari’s kindness and the joy he gave to others continue to be remembered by family, friends, and members of the Baton Rouge community. His spirit lives on in the stories shared by those who knew him and in the love he showed his children every day.
