Remembering Jacques

A life held close in memory

Jacques Phillippe Marchand was born March 9, 1980, and raised in New Orleans, where he grew into a hardworking tradesman, loving husband, and proud father. A graduate of John F. Kennedy High School (Class of 1998), Jacques spent much of his adult life at Atlas Blowpipe & Sheet Metal Works, Inc., building a fifteen-year career as a sheet metal worker and remaining an active member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 214. His work reflected a steady commitment to his craft and to providing for his family.

Warmth and laughter were hallmarks of Jacques’s presence. Family and friends remember him as the life of the party — someone whose good humor and easy smile put others at ease. He was a devoted partner to his wife, Adrian Morris Marchand, and a proud father to their three sons: Jacob, Jalon, and Jordan. His mother, Gaynell Johnson Marchand, and his sisters, including his twin Jolie and Janine, were central to his life and remained close through the years.

Jacques’s life was rooted in family and community. Whether at home with his sons or among friends, he brought a spirited, generous energy to everyday moments. He valued steady work, took pride in his union membership, and cherished gatherings with relatives and neighbors. Those who knew him speak of a man who cared deeply for his family and who enjoyed making people laugh.

Though his life was cut short on January 25, 2018, the memory of Jacques’s warmth, dedication, and lively spirit endures in the hearts of those who loved him. His kindness, steady work ethic, and devotion to family remain the most lasting parts of his legacy. He is remembered with gratitude by his loved ones, and their lives continue to reflect the care he showed them.
