Remembering Jacob
A life held close in memory
Jacob “Jay” David Bowlin (November 8, 1984 – April 5, 2026) lived his life rooted in Dayton, where family and familiar streets shaped who he was. A beloved son of Corinna Ellis and Virgil Bowlin Sr., and a devoted brother to Virgil Jr., Michael, David, Adam and Autumn, Jay kept his family at the center of his life. Those who knew him recall a man who guarded and cared for the people he loved.
Jay had simple pleasures that brought him joy—long days fishing when he could get away, music that set the soundtrack for time spent with friends, and an unfiltered intensity about him that made his presence unmistakable. He was a person who held strong loyalties and who made sure those close to him felt valued.
Like many, Jay faced hard seasons and personal struggles. Even so, family accounts and memorial remembrances emphasize that these challenges were only part of a larger life of connection: he welcomed cousins, nieces and nephews into his world, counted friends among family, and treasured those relationships.
Services to honor Jay were arranged by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, North Dayton Chapel. In remembering him, his family asks that people recall his love for simple pleasures and the fierce way he cared for those closest to him. He leaves behind a large extended family who will carry his memory forward with affection and respect.
