Remembering Ingrid

A life held close in memory

Ingrid Charise “Charise” Powell, 24, of Wilson, North Carolina, was remembered for a warm smile and a loving heart. A devoted daughter and sister, Ingrid valued family above all and found joy in everyday moments spent with those she loved. Friends and relatives recall her as vibrant and caring — someone whose presence lit up gatherings and who treasured time with family and close friends.

Born to Anthony C. Powell, Sr. and Judith Ingrid Harrell-Ross, Ingrid was part of a large, close-knit family that included siblings and many cousins who remained central to her life. Her family described her as someone who thought of each day as a celebration, and her easy laughter and generous spirit left a lasting impression on those around her.

A celebration of Ingrid’s life was held at St. John AME Zion Church in Wilson, where family and community members gathered to honor her memory. Loved ones shared stories of her kindness, remembered her radiant smile, and expressed how deeply she cared for family and friends. She was laid to rest at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Though taken far too soon, Ingrid’s life reflected moments of genuine connection and love. Those who knew her recall the comfort of her presence and the small acts of care she offered freely. Her memory is held closely by her parents, siblings, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched.

In remembering Ingrid Charise Powell, family and friends celebrate a young woman whose warmth and devotion continue to be felt. Her life — marked by love for her family and a joyful, generous spirit — remains a cherished part of the community she belonged to.

Ingrid was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
