Remembering Howard

A life held close in memory

Howard Lesley Redmon, born September 8, 1974, in Alexander County Hospital, was a cherished son, father, and active member of Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory. Those who knew him remember a man centered on family and faith, whose connections to his community were steady and true.

Howard was the son of Nella Redmon Miller and Howard Wellman, Jr., and he drew strength and love from his close family ties. He is survived by his mother and father; his grandmother, Alene Howell; his daughter, Shatara King Redmon; his sons, Lashan Redmon and Malek Redmon Patterson; sisters Sheena Carlton and Erica Price; and brothers James Miller, John Miller, Monty Redmon, Barry Hamilton, Dominique Speaks, Jeremy Miller, and Nathaniel Hicks, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who carry forward his memory.

A devoted member of Corinth Reformed Church, Howard found community and purpose through his faith. The care he gave his family and the place he held in church life are remembered by those who gathered with him in worship and fellowship.

Howard was preceded in death by his grandparents Hatti Wellman, Howard Redmon Sr., and Beluah Redmon. The family held a service to honor his life at Adams Funeral Home Chapel on January 31, 2024, where friends and relatives joined to celebrate the relationships and everyday moments that defined him.

Though words cannot erase the loss, Howard’s family and community remember him for the love he showed his children, the devotion he carried to those nearest him, and the quiet ties of kinship that shaped his life. His memory endures in the stories, traditions, and family bonds he helped sustain.
