Remembering Gregory

A life held close in memory

Gregory Lucious Lawton Jr., known to friends as "Lil G," is remembered for the quiet strength he brought to his family and neighborhood. Born July 29, 1979, Gregory grew into a devoted father of three whose priorities centered on providing for and protecting his children. Those who knew him recall a man who worked as a security guard and took seriously the responsibility of keeping others safe.

Gregory’s family described him as a good Samaritan — someone who offered help when he could and cared about the well-being of his neighbors. He lived on 23rd Parkway in Temple Hills, Maryland, where his presence was part of the daily fabric of the community. Family and friends remember his steady, protective nature and the everyday acts of care that defined his role as a parent and neighbor.

Though his life was cut short on March 24, 2011, Gregory’s memory continues in the stories his children and loved ones share. Those stories speak to a man who worked to improve the safety of his surroundings and who centered his life on family. In honoring his memory, relatives and friends celebrate the love he gave and the dedication he showed as a father and community member.

Services and remembrances were arranged through Lee Funeral Homes, where the family received condolences and shared memories. Gregory’s life — marked by devotion to his children and commitment to his community — is remembered with love and respect.
