April 1, 2014
Glenda Sue Henry Bordeaux—known to loved ones as “Nana”—was a gentle, creative spirit who delighted in gardening, painting, and writing, and whose warmth touched family and community.
Remembering Glenda
A life held close in memory
Glenda Sue Henry Bordeaux of Carolina Beach was cherished by family and friends for her kindness, creativity, and generous heart. Fondly called “Nana,” she spent her days caring for those around her and finding small joys in gardening, painting, and writing. Those who knew her remember a woman who lived with quiet compassion and who made ordinary moments feel meaningful.
Glenda was a devoted daughter and sister, and a loving grandmother. She is remembered by her father, Roy Henry; sisters Joyce Goldberg and Laverne Amburgey; brother Wesley Henry (Joanne); her daughter Kristen Harrell; and grandchildren Trevor and Ryan Miller and Bobby and Kyri Harrell, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who were part of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Culbertson Henry.
A celebration of Glenda’s life was held at Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church, where family and friends gathered to honor the gentle spirit she offered to so many. Interment followed at Oleander Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomed gestures that reflect Glenda’s love of nature and creativity.
Glenda’s love and compassion left a quiet but lasting imprint on those around her. Her passions for painting and tending a garden, and her habit of putting others first, are the small, enduring gifts she leaves behind. Her family remembers her warmth and the simple ways she made days brighter, and they hold her memory close as a comfort and a guide.
