Remembering Geoffrey

A life held close in memory

Geoffrey Lamar “Joc” Jones of Cordele, Georgia, cherished his family, faith and friends. Born September 4, 1975, Geoffrey grew up in Crisp County and was known to family and neighbors as a warm, fun-loving man who could brighten a room with a joke or a smile. A devoted father, he took great pride in caring for his children and worked to make sure they had what they needed. He remained connected to the church community he joined as a child and later worshipped with New Harvest Community Church in Cordele. Geoffrey enjoyed time with his ‘‘Grudge Racing Family’’ and was a loyal Chicago Bears fan — small pleasures that reflected his easygoing spirit.

Beloved by his fiancé, Jacquetta D. Curry, his children Shidae Adams, Brandon Adams, Geoffrey L. Jones Jr., and Khloe Lamariya Jones, and a large extended family, Geoffrey was surrounded by relatives and friends who remember him for his generosity and steady presence. He was the son of Elizabeth Crapp Jones and the late George Arthur Jones, and he was preceded in death by grandmothers Lillie Mae Crapp and Calviena Pittman. Those who loved him recall a man who would give what he could to help others and who found joy in family gatherings and shared laughter.

Services were held in Cordele with burial at Bethel Cemetery. Though his life was cut short, Geoffrey’s kindness, devotion to his children, and the everyday ways he cared for others remain the threads of his memory. He is remembered with love by his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends whose lives he touched. May his family find comfort in those memories and in the many small acts of care that defined his life.
