Obituary

A formal remembrance

Fredric “Micky” Rogers, age 31, of Fairfield, Alabama, is remembered by his family and friends for his steady presence, faith, and service. Born March 10, 1976 in Linwood, California, Fredric moved with his mother to Fairfield at age two and grew up rooted in that community. He was baptized and educated at St. Mary’s, graduating from Fairfield High School, and his faith remained an important part of his life.

Micky earned a living working at the OfficeMax warehouse, where colleagues came to know him as reliable and hardworking. He valued family above all: he is survived by his mother, Marie B. Rogers; his father, Frederic McClain; brothers Antonio and Andrew McClain; grandmothers Eunice B. Rogers and Armelia Bruce; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who kept him close. Among those who mourn him are relatives active in public life, and a number of special friends who remembered his gentle companionship.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment at Elmwood Cemetery. Those who loved Fredric recall a life lived quietly but with deep attachments—to family, to faith, and to the Birmingham area where he spent most of his years. Though his life was cut short, the memories shared by family and friends reflect a person who brought comfort and loyalty to those around him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and condolences were offered to the family through the funeral home and online guestbooks. Fredric’s memory endures in the stories and prayers of those who knew him and in the community he called home.
