Remembering Frank

A life held close in memory

Frank Joseph Ortley, born April 16, 1987, journeyed to the Spirit World on October 28, 2022. Frank was a devoted father and a son who took pride in providing for and caring for those he loved. He worked as a roofer and was known to family and friends for his steady work ethic and quiet presence.

Family was at the center of Frank’s life. He is remembered by his mother, Lisa Ortley, and his father, Rene Cordero, along with his children — Lucio, Julianna, Caiden, Melodie, Aleena and Antonio — who were a source of immense joy to him. He is also survived by siblings Joanna Cordero, Juana Davila, Antonio Rivera and Sherry Rivera, and an extended circle of relatives and friends who cherished his company and rootedness in family gatherings.

Friends and relatives recall Frank’s practical skills and his willingness to help, whether on a job or with a neighbor’s home repair. He carried his heritage and community ties with quiet pride, participating in family and community events and honoring cultural connections important to those who knew him.

A funeral service in his honor was held at the American Indian Center in Minneapolis on November 5, 2022, where family and community members came together to celebrate his life and share memories. Those who loved Frank remember him for his commitment to his children and relatives, a dependable nature, and the ordinary acts of care that marked his days.

Though Frank’s passing came far too soon, those who knew him remember the warmth he brought to family moments and the steady reliability he offered to friends. His life is honored by the many relatives and friends who continue to hold his memory close.
