Remembering Frank

A life held close in memory

Frank A. Fabiano Jr. grew up in Kenosha and carried the values of his hometown into a life of service. Born August 8, 1958, he graduated from Kenosha’s Mary D. Bradford High School in 1977 and later answered a call to serve his country and community. Frank served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Military Police lance corporal in the 1980s before beginning a long career in law enforcement.

In 1989 Frank joined the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. Over an 18-year career he became known to colleagues as a dependable officer who took mentoring seriously — serving as a field training officer and taking part in community programs such as “Shop with a Cop.” His record shows acts of bravery and a steady commitment to helping others: in 1991 he received a departmental Silver Star for rescuing a child from a burning building and later received recognition after being wounded in the line of duty during another dangerous call.

Away from work, Frank made space for the quieter pleasures that mattered to him. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, enjoyed golfing when he could, and treasured his family life. He married Amy Theresa Buchman in 1992 and was a devoted husband and father to their daughter, Angelina. Those who knew him remember a man who took pride in his work, loved his family, and cared for his community in practical, everyday ways.

Frank’s passing in mid-May 2007 was felt deeply by his family, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, and neighbors who knew him from church and community events. Colleagues and community members have continued to honor his memory in annual remembrances and local ceremonies that recognize his years of service. Though public records focus on his role as an officer, the fuller memory of Frank is of a family man, veteran, and neighbor whose life made a clear and valued impact on those around him.
