Obituary
A formal remembrance
Erick “Guero” Torres, 17, passed away on April 19, 2021. Born October 3, 2003, Erick was cherished by his family and friends for the light he brought into everyday moments. He was a devoted son to Daniel Torres Martinez and Ana L. (Arturo Rico) Canales, and a loving brother to Daniel Jorge Torres Chavez and Juan Isaac Torres. Surrounded by close family — aunts, uncles, cousins and friends — Erick’s life was celebrated by those who knew him best.
Family was central to Erick’s story. The arrangements shared by Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services reflect a family who came together to honor his life with a visitation, prayer service, and a funeral in Laredo, Texas. Pallbearers included his father and brothers along with other relatives and close family friends, showing the deep bonds Erick helped sustain.
Though Erick’s life was short, the gatherings and services held in his memory testify to the affection and respect he inspired. He was laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery following a service at Gateway City Fellowship, where family and community members gathered to celebrate his life and offer comfort to one another.
Those who loved Erick remember him through the small, everyday ways he connected with others — a presence at family events, the company he offered to friends, and the place he held as a son and brother. His memory endures in the warmth of those who cared for him, and in the stories shared by family members who continue to honor him.
Friends and community members wishing to leave condolences were invited to the funeral home’s guestbook and to remember Erick by supporting one another in the days that followed. Erick’s life, though brief, mattered greatly to those closest to him and is remembered with love and respect.
