Remembering Emony
A life held close in memory
Emony Nicole Jackson was a young life full of hopes and small, bright passions. At 13 she was an eighth-grade student at Robinswood Middle School in Orlando and an active participant in Elevate Orlando’s mentoring program — connections that reflected her engagement with friends, teachers and community mentors. Family and friends described Emony as bubbly and outgoing, someone who enjoyed social moments and creating memories with those around her, including making videos for social media and laughing with classmates.
Those who knew her recall a determined child with everyday dreams: taking part in cheer, continuing her education, and being the kind of cousin, niece and friend who brought light into gatherings. Despite facing deep losses earlier in childhood — the family has said she lost her mother and younger sister in 2017 — Emony continued to care about school and the people close to her, leaning on community programs and relatives who supported her.
Her passing on December 25, 2025 was met with grief throughout her neighborhood and among classmates and mentors. Family, friends and mentors organized a candlelight vigil and other remembrances to honor her life and to celebrate the small joys she shared with others. Those who spoke at community gatherings remembered Emony for her smiles, her energy around friends, and the plans she held for the future.
Emony’s life mattered to the people who loved her — family members, school staff, and mentors from Elevate Orlando — and they asked that her memory be held with the dignity and care due any child taken far too soon. While public reports document the circumstances of her death, what endures most in community accounts is the fact of a young girl with dreams, friendships, and a warm presence now mourned by many who will carry her memory forward.
