Remembering Emad
A life held close in memory
Emad Makram Thabet-Saadalla, born December 20, 1987, was a devoted husband and the father of six children. He was a member of the local Coptic Orthodox community and a familiar presence to family and friends in the Rock Hill area. Emad’s family announced funeral services at St. Mary and St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church, with a graveside at York Memorial Park, where loved ones gathered to honor his life.
Those who knew Emad remember a man for whom family came first. He shared daily life with his wife Leana and their children, and his role as a provider and partner was central to his life. In the wake of his passing, family, friends, and community members came together to support one another and to celebrate the relationships that defined him.
Emad’s funeral allowed community members to offer condolences and to reflect on the love he gave to his family. The arrangements were handled by McEwen Funeral Service—Pineville Chapel, and the service on December 13, 2024 drew neighbors, friends, and members of his church to pay their respects.
Though his life was cut short, Emad’s memory lives on in the family he raised and the community bonds he helped strengthen. Those who wish to honor his memory have been encouraged to share stories and remembrances with his family and to support one another through this difficult time.
