Remembering Elyse
A life held close in memory
Elyse Marie Erwin (September 17, 1988 – April 16, 2017) is remembered for the love she poured into family and community. A lifelong Santa Maria resident, Elyse graduated from Allan Hancock College and built a career bringing celebrations to life as an event and catering coordinator. Her attention to detail and warm manner made weddings, parties, and community gatherings more memorable for countless families.
Elyse’s greatest joy was her daughter, with whom she shared simple pleasures — beach days, park visits, movies and laughter. Close to family and friends, she enjoyed hikes, wine tasting, dancing, and live music, and she was often the one to bring people together with humor and generosity. Colleagues and community members described her as genuine, loyal, and caring, someone whose sense of fun and kindness brightened ordinary days.
She is survived by her daughter; her parents Denise and Erin; siblings Brittany and Matthew; grandparents Ann, George, Oliver and Sue; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and godparents who shared in her life. Family services and a celebration of Elyse’s life were planned in Santa Maria so her loved ones could gather, remember, and support one another.
Elyse’s life was defined by her devotion to the people she loved and by the warmth she brought to everyday moments. Though her time was far too short, those who knew her recall a generous spirit and a love for simple joys that endure in memory. Friends and family who wish to honor Elyse’s life are encouraged to hold close the laughter and care she gave to others.

Elyse was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
