Remembering Dustin
A life held close in memory
Dustin Schmidt (August 26, 1975 – March 27, 2018) is remembered for the easy laughter and music he shared with friends and family. A native of Oklahoma who later lived in Colorado, Dustin loved playing the guitar, singing karaoke and spending time with the people who mattered most to him. Those who knew him recall a generous, steady presence — someone who found joy in small gatherings, good songs and friends’ company.
Professionally, Dustin worked as a warehouse supervisor, a role in which he brought dependability and a calm work ethic. He cared for his home and his dog, and took pleasure in ordinary, everyday moments with his partner, Vicki Branaghan, and his circle of friends. His friends’ messages after his passing described him as kind-hearted and loyal, someone who could be counted on and who made time for people.
Dustin’s life touched many across Oklahoma and Colorado. Family and friends recall evenings of music, stories and song — the personal moments that mattered most. Though his life was cut far too short, memories of his voice, his guitar and the warmth he offered remain with those who loved him.
Arrangements were handled by Trout Funeral Home & Crematory in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Those who wish to honor Dustin’s memory are encouraged to gather with the people they love, share a song he would have enjoyed, or make a quiet contribution in his name to a local animal or community charity. His memory lives on in the friendships, laughter and music he shared.
