Obituary

A formal remembrance

Dustin DeMonte (May 24, 1987 — October 12, 2022) was a devoted husband and father whose bright spirit and dedication to community defined his life. Born in Middletown and raised locally, Dustin graduated from Middletown High School, where he took part in the band and played catcher on the baseball team. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Central Connecticut State University in 2012 and had recently been accepted to a master’s program in organizational leadership at Nichols College.

Dustin served the people of Bristol with compassion and pride. As a school resource officer and member of the Bristol Police Department, he took part in outreach to those in need, including volunteer efforts with local organizations that assist people experiencing homelessness. Colleagues remembered him as someone who honored the memory of fallen officers and quietly gave his time to meaningful community traditions.

Outside of work, Dustin loved music, dancing and staying active. A lifelong sports fan, he cheered for the New York Yankees and the Miami Dolphins. Above all else, his family was his greatest joy. He was the beloved husband of Laura DeMonte and a proud father to his children. Friends and family remember Dustin as a kind, gentle spirit who lived fully and loved deeply.

Funeral services were arranged by North Haven Funeral Home and held with community honors. Dustin’s family asked that remembrances focus on his warmth, generosity and commitment to others. He is deeply missed by those who knew him and by the community he served.
