Remembering Deyvonndra

A life held close in memory

Chief Petty Officer Deyvonndra Laneatretta Jones (March 26, 1981 – January 22, 2022) is remembered for a life of faith, service, and family. A Glynn County native and Glynn Academy graduate, Deyvonndra answered a call to serve when she enlisted in the United States Navy in 1999. Over two decades of dedication led her to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, a role she fulfilled with professionalism and quiet strength.

Known to those closest to her as a loving daughter and sister, Deyvonndra cherished her children, Zeyveonn Washington and Cameryn Pitts, and drew comfort from her spiritual roots at First Jordan Grove Baptist Church. Family and friends recall her as someone who valued travel, close friendships, and the steady routines of everyday life that tied her to community and kin.

Deyvonndra was preceded in death by several relatives and is survived by her parents, Charles L. (Vickey) Washington, Sr. and Carnella Wright; her brother Charles L. Washington, Jr.; sisters Sonya L. Anderson and Tonya Washington; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who carry her memory forward.

Her life was honored at services in Brunswick, Georgia, where family and community gathered to celebrate the years she shared with them and the service she gave to her country. Those who loved Deyvonndra remember her for the steadiness of her character, her devotion to family, and the dignity with which she served. May her memory remain a blessing to all who knew her.
