Remembering Devin
A life held close in memory
Devin P. McGlothan, born June 5, 1991, in Schenectady, New York, brought joy and humor to those around him. Family and friends remember Devin for his contagious laughter, his easy smile, and the way he made ordinary moments feel brighter. Known affectionately as “Bam” by relatives, Devin cherished time with his family — especially camping trips that became treasured memories.
A graduate of Schenectady High School’s culinary arts BOCES program in 2009, Devin carried a practical spirit and a creativity that showed in everyday life. He was the son of Gabbrielle Lewis and Ronny McGlothan, and his childhood was shaped by close bonds with grandparents Paul and Delores Woodard and his aunts Anita and Elaine. Those family ties stayed important to him throughout his life.
Devin was a devoted father to his two children, Nalay and Zalon, who were central to his world. To those who knew him well, he was a beloved son, brother, and friend — someone who could lift the mood in a room with a joke or a laugh and who treasured simple times spent with loved ones.
Devin was called home on Sunday, May 30, 2021. His family and community mourn the loss of a bright presence whose warmth and humor left an impression on many. Though his time was too short, the memories he made with family and friends endure: the laughter he shared, the small acts of kindness, and the love he showed his children. He is remembered with deep affection and gratitude for the light he brought into the lives of those who loved him.
