Remembering Dayvon
A life held close in memory
Dayvon Darrod Gross (July 1, 1986 – April 18, 2018) is remembered for the steady, caring presence he offered his family and friends. Born and raised in Baltimore, Dayvon valued family above all — his mother was a central joy in his life, and he took great pride in being a father to his son and daughters. Known to those close to him as compassionate and dependable, he was someone people turned to in times of need.
Education and self-improvement were important to Dayvon. After completing his GED, he pursued further education and earned several trade certifications, reflecting a strong work ethic and a desire to better himself. In his younger years he found passion in boxing at Upton Gym on Pennsylvania Avenue, where he competed successfully and carried the lessons of discipline and perseverance into his adult life.
Dayvon’s life was shaped by close family ties and a wide circle of relatives and friends who survived him: his mother Christina Neverson; sisters Leatha Gross and Tyies Alexander; his children Dayvon Jr., Lyric Gross, Dakari Gross, and Hope Gross; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who remember his loyalty and gentle spirit.
Though his time was far too short, Dayvon’s dedication to family, his efforts to grow through education and work, and the kindness he showed to others remain the heart of his legacy. He is held in loving memory by those who knew him and whose lives he touched.
