David Heath Smith, 47, of Boyles Road in Lawndale, North Carolina, passed away on August 4, 2026. Born April 9, 1979, in Cleveland County, David was a son, a father, and a friend who found joy in the simple pleasures of being outdoors and in the fellowship of his church community.

A member of Bingham Memorial Church, David cherished time spent in nature and those moments of quiet reflection they brought. He loved being outside and shared that appreciation with family and friends. Those who knew him recall his steady presence and his gentle care for the people closest to him.

David was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Smith. He is survived by his father, David Kevin Smith and Brenda Walker Smith; his mother, Donna Smith Drake and her husband Rick; his children Alexus Prichard (and her husband Josh) of Kannapolis, Dakota Smith (and his wife Ashley) of Sofia, Kloee Aguero of Lawndale, and Daymian Smith of Shelby; his sisters April Kennedy of Shelby and Brandi Goode (and her husband Andy) of Boiling Springs; two grandchildren, Bransyn and Luca; and several nieces and nephews, including Evan Caple, Jake Goode, and Jesse Scruggs. These family ties were central to David’s life and remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate David’s life. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be shared through the funeral home’s tribute page. David’s warmth, his love for the outdoors, and his devotion to family will be remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
