Remembering Darnesha

A life held close in memory

Darnesha Spence-Poindexter (November 19, 1993 – April 22, 2026) was a devoted wife, a loving mother of four, and a cherished member of the Saginaw community. Born in Dallas, Texas, to Parris Spence and Alesa Dugan, Darnesha grew up with a deep sense of family that shaped her life and priorities.

A graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 2011, Darnesha furthered her studies at Tyler College where she studied criminology. She chose to devote herself to raising her children and became a stay-at-home mom who poured her time and energy into their upbringing and education. Her family remembers her as an attentive homeschool teacher and a steadfast presence in the daily lives of her children.

Darnesha treasured her role as a wife to Damon Poindexter and as mother to Amara E. Spence-Reeves, Damon Poindexter Jr., Dar’Nae Aes'Sedai Spence-Poindexter, and A’Kyro A. Spence-Poindexter. She was close to a wide circle of relatives — from siblings and grandparents to nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins — and she took great joy in family gatherings and offering help to those she loved.

Those who knew Darnesha remember her generosity and the quiet ways she supported friends and relatives. Whether helping family members, caring for her children, or sharing time with friends, she offered a steady kindness that left an impression on those around her.

Darnesha’s life is celebrated by her husband; her children; her grandmother, Elizabeth Dugan-Rodgers; her sister Andrea Williams; multiple brothers and extended family across Michigan and Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by close family members who remain in the hearts of those who mourn her loss.

Her life was honored with services at Paradise Funeral Chapel in Saginaw and burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In remembering Darnesha, her family asks that people hold close the gentle care she showed her children and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her warmth and devotion to family will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
