Daniel Chase Compton

Daniel "Chase" Compton was born April 16, 1996, in Cheraw, South Carolina. Known to family and friends simply as Chase, he grew up in the community he loved and graduated from Cheraw High School with the Class of 2014. Chase took great pride in his work as a machinist at a local welding shop, where he applied steady hands and practical skill each day.

Chase’s deepest joy was found outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he relished time spent in the woods and on the water—especially annual fishing trips to Santee and moments pursuing whitetail deer, a pastime that impressed his friends and became part of his identity. Those who knew him remember a young man with a big heart who rarely met a stranger and who carried a quiet generosity with him.

Above all, Chase treasured his family. He was the son of Carl Jay and Nancy White Compton and is survived by his brother, Colt Compton, and by nephews who remembered him as a loving uncle. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. Friends and neighbors in Cheraw recall his easy manner and the steady companionship he offered to those around him.

Chase passed away on December 5, 2019. Services were held in Cheraw, where friends and family gathered to celebrate his life, share memories, and support one another in their grief. While his time was far too short, those who loved him remember his warmth, his skill in the outdoors, and the ordinary acts of kindness that made him unforgettable. He is remembered with love by his family and the many people whose lives he touched.
