Remembering Daniel
A life held close in memory
Daniel Carl Kemnitz, born October 29, 1980, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was a man known for his quiet strength, steady work ethic, and the care he showed to family and friends. The third son of Leonard and Jean (Schiefelbein) Kemnitz, Dan grew up in the Sioux Falls area and pursued practical training after high school, attending Job Corps in Montana and later obtaining his GED.
Dan built a life around work and service. He spent many years employed at Component Manufacturing and contributed his skills to local construction projects, always bringing dependability and a hands-on approach to his work. Those who worked with him remember a reliable, capable colleague who took pride in doing a job well.
Family meant everything to Dan. He shared a long partnership of 15 years with Sadie Almont and cared deeply for the children in their blended household. He is also remembered by his extended family, including siblings and relatives who saw in him a warm and gentle presence. Dan was preceded in death by several grandparents and other relatives; he is survived by those who carry his memory forward.
Friends and family recall Dan for his gentle heart and the sincere way he connected with people. The family has expressed gratitude to community members who assisted in a difficult moment, noting a special thanks to Dusty Miller for his actions that morning. A funeral service to honor Daniel’s life was held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, with a visitation beforehand at Miller Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls.
While words cannot fully capture a life, those who knew Daniel remember a man who showed steady care for others, worked with skill and dedication, and brought warmth into everyday moments. His memory remains with the family and friends who loved him.
