Dagoberto Lopez, 33, of Garland, North Carolina, touched the lives of those closest to him with quiet warmth, a playful spirit, and deep devotion to his family. A son, brother, husband and father, Dagoberto found joy in simple comforts — family meals, shared laughter, and being present for the people he loved.

Born and raised in the area, Dagoberto was a beloved son to Antonia Salazar Lopez, who remembered him as affectionate, humble, and never picky about a good meal. Family gatherings were brighter because of his easygoing nature and the small, thoughtful ways he showed love — a bear hug for the children, a gentle tease for his siblings, or a favorite plate he could always be counted on to enjoy.

He and his wife, Ana Karen, began building a life together as teenagers and married in September 2009. Over the following years they created a warm home and raised two sons, Andrés and David. Ana Karen recalls their early days and the steady devotion Dagoberto brought to being a partner and father: patient, determined, and full of quiet pride in the family they created.

Dagoberto’s sister, Esmerald, remembered him as a mentor and a companion through childhood antics — the same good-natured teasing and gentle resilience that shaped him into the caring uncle and brother he became. To his children he was a teacher of small joys, someone who would spoil them, share a laugh, and give the kind of hugs that linger in memory.

Though his life was far too short, Dagoberto’s presence left a lasting imprint on those around him: a steady, loving figure in ordinary days, a son who delighted his mother’s cooking, a husband who built a home with his wife, and a father who cherished his children.
