Remembering Correnthian
A life held close in memory
Correnthian Jeremiah Cooks of Cordele, Georgia, is remembered for the promise and determination he showed in both his community and in service to his country. A 2023 Crisp County High School graduate, Correnthian took a meaningful step after graduation by enlisting in the U.S. Navy — a choice that reflected his wish to serve and to build a future. Those who knew him recall a young man at a turning point, moving from the familiar hallways of his hometown toward new responsibilities and opportunities.
Family and friends gathered to honor Correnthian’s life in Cordele. Funeral services were arranged by Bentley Carson Memorial Funeral Home with a memorial service at Gethsemane Baptist Church and interment at Bethel Cemetery, honoring the places that mattered to him and his family. The funeral-home notice asks for the community to hold Correnthian’s loved ones in their prayers during this time of loss.
Though his life was cut far too short, Correnthian’s choices — joining the Navy and preparing for work after service — speak to his readiness to step forward and contribute. He is remembered not only in the programs that noted his enlistment but in the everyday ways he belonged to Cordele: as a graduate of Crisp County High School and as a young man whose plans were forming into the work and relationships he hoped to build.
Those wishing to leave memories or condolences are directed to the Bentley Carson Memorial Funeral Home guestbook. In honoring Correnthian, his community remembers a life of service, a family anchor, and the unfulfilled potential of a young man beginning to write his story.
