Cormyus Kyree Dennis

Cormyus Kyree Dennis, age 20, of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away on May 31, 2022. Born August 20, 2001, Cormyus was a 2020 graduate of Westside High School and a devoted member of his family and local community. He is remembered by his parents, LaRhonda Gaines and Corey Dennis, and by siblings and close family who were central to his life. Family remembered him as someone who brought comfort and companionship to those nearest him.

Cormyus is survived by his mother, LaRhonda Gaines (Red); his father, Corey Dennis (Aquessa); his sister, Jasmine Gaines; and his brother, Quindarious Dennis (Breanna). He also leaves behind three step-brothers—James Groves Jr., Jaquavious Groves, and Javuan Patterson—four beloved nieces, Kaylee, Kynzie, Valiyah, and Sanovia; grandmothers Marie Smith and Jeanette Whitfield; a close friend Malasia Brownlee; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry his memory forward.

A public viewing was held at Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home on June 5, 2022, and a funeral service took place at King David Baptist Church on June 6, 2022, with interment at Westview Cemetery. The family invited those who loved Cormyus to gather and celebrate his life during those services.

Cormyus’s life touched many. Those who knew him recall a young man who was part of a loving family network and who had just begun the journey of adulthood after finishing high school. His family’s grief is matched by the care shown by neighbors and friends who shared memories and offered support in the days after his passing. While his life was far too brief, his memory endures in the hearts of those who loved him.

In honoring Cormyus, family and friends remember the daily moments that revealed his place in their lives—his role as son and brother, the laughter he shared with family, and the connections he made in his community. May those memories provide comfort and a lasting tribute to a young life remembered with love.
