Remembering Corey

A life held close in memory

Corey De'Andrew Woods (April 1, 1990 – June 6, 2020) brought a steady calm and a big heart to everyone who knew him. A devoted father to his son Kieontae (known affectionately as “Bean”), Corey treasured the simple joys of family time and the laughter of close gatherings. Those who loved him recall his warm smile and the gentle way he looked after the people closest to him.

A graduate of Robert A. Taft High School, Corey enjoyed playing football in his younger years and carried that team spirit into his friendships and daily life. He worked at times alongside family members, including helping with his uncle’s business, and he found pleasure in modest pastimes like visiting the casino and spending time with loved ones.

Corey was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Woods, and other relatives. He is survived by his father, Reginald Palmer; grandfather David Lawrence; sisters Courtney, Kameelah, Raelynn and SheRae; brothers Cortez, Michael, Jeffrey and Joshua; his son Kieontae; his longtime girlfriend Millie Patterson; nieces Royalty and Mahkyiah; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who will carry his memory forward.

Friends and family gathered to celebrate Corey’s life, remembering him as someone who “didn’t bother no one” and whose presence was a comfort to those around him. His family honored him with services at the House of Hope and interment at Vine Street Hill Cemetery. In the quiet that follows his passing, his laughter, warmth and the love he gave to his son remain the clearest echoes of a life that mattered.
