Obituary

A formal remembrance

Corey Wayne Grubbs, born February 6, 1985, passed away on March 8, 2021. A native of Texas who made Shelbyville his home, Corey built a life centered on steady work, family, and the quiet everyday ties that hold communities together.

Corey grew up attending Franklin High School and remained connected to the “Rebel” community that shaped his younger years. He began working with Domino’s Pizza while still in high school, and over time his commitment and reliability led him to serve as the manager of the Shelbyville Domino’s beginning in 2009. From co-workers to regular customers, people who came through the store knew him for his dependable leadership and willingness to pitch in.

Above all, Corey was a son, father, and brother. He is survived by his parents, Gary and Crystal Grubbs; his daughter, Melanie Grubbs; his sister, Amanda (Jimmy) Boyd; and grandparents Martha Grubbs and Joe and Liz Emmons, along with other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James H. Grubbs. Those who gathered with the family remembered him for the steady role he played in their lives and for the care he showed in daily moments.

A Celebration of Life service was held on March 13, 2021, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Shelbyville, where friends and family shared memories of Corey’s kindness, work ethic, and the small acts of consideration that made him a valued neighbor and colleague. In keeping with the family’s wishes, memorials could be made to the Corey Grubbs Memorial Fund.

Corey’s life was defined by consistent devotion to those around him — his family, the team he led at work, and the people of Shelbyville who knew him in passing or by name. He is remembered with affection by those who loved him and who carry forward the ordinary, enduring kindness he showed each day.
