Remembering Clay

A life held close in memory

Clay Landry Sr., 58, of New Orleans, passed away December 10, 2021. A native of the city he called home, Clay was a devoted husband of 35 years to Lois B. Landry and a proud father to Marquita, Dominique, and Clay Landry Jr. He treasured time with his grandchildren — Paris, London, Madison McBride, Alani Leflore, and Rylan Landry — who brought him great joy.

Family was central to Clay’s life. He is survived by a large circle of relatives including nine sisters, three brothers, multiple brothers- and sisters-in-law, godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends who remember him for his kindness and his familiar presence in the neighborhood. Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Delilah Jackson Landry and Willie Landry Jr., as well as several brothers and other close family members.

Relatives and friends gathered to celebrate Clay’s life at a homegoing service held on December 22, 2021, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in New Orleans, with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Professional Funeral Services, Inc. cared for arrangements and the family invited the community to join in honoring his memory.

Those who knew Clay recall a steady, dependable presence and a man who put family first. While public notices emphasize the names and dates that mark a life, those who loved him carry the quieter details — the everyday conversations, the small acts of care, the ways he welcomed others — that define the man he was. Clay’s family and friends continue to hold those memories close as they celebrate his life and the bonds he formed in his neighborhood and beyond.

In honoring Clay Landry Sr., his family asked for thoughts and condolences and invited remembrances that reflect the warmth he shared with those nearest him.
