Obituary

A formal remembrance

Clay C. Hargrave of White Plains, Maryland, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 55. Beloved by family and friends, Clay lived a life defined by close relationships and steady devotion to those he loved.

Born September 29, 1969, Clay was a familiar and cherished presence to a large extended family. He was a devoted husband to Monique Proctor and a loving father to Jasmaine Tate, Savanna Hargrave, Torey Clark, and Kelvin Proctor. Clay’s pride in his grandchildren — including Jade Horton, Kameron Tate, Kinsley Tate, Zoe Clark, Cruz Clark, Carmelo Clark, and Cortez Clark — was evident to all who knew him. He is also remembered by many brothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, and a broad circle of relatives who valued his steady presence.

Friends and family recall Clay for his warm, wise manner and the way he made room for others. During a difficult and sudden time for his household, loved ones gathered to support one another and to celebrate the ways Clay touched their lives. Funeral arrangements were handled by Whiting’s Funeral Home, with services including a viewing and a celebration of life held at Antioch Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Clay’s memory were invited to plant a tree or contribute to a charity of their choice. A fundraiser organized by friends and family helped the household with memorial and immediate needs, reflecting the community’s desire to carry forward Clay’s legacy of care.

Clay’s family leaves a lasting message of gratitude for the outpouring of condolences and memories shared by so many. He will be remembered not only for his roles within the family, but for the quiet ways he enriched the lives of those around him. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.
