Obituary
A formal remembrance
Christopher Giblin “Kiki” Salles Jr. (d. May 17, 2020) was a warm, generous presence in the lives of his family and friends. Known for his easy smile and readiness to help, Chris cherished his role as a father and was deeply connected to his extended family. He attended Bassett Middle School and Irvin High School, where he played football, and friends recall his love of travel and all kinds of music. He had a practical talent for working with his hands and delighted in being there for others.
Chris is survived by his mother, Maria Salles; his stepfather, Retired Army Major David J. Jones Jr.; his father, Christopher Giblin Salles Sr.; his children Aulora Yael Chavez, Caleb Sebastian Chavez, Connor Alexander Chavez, Aurelie Isabella Chavez, and Jenna Marie Salles; and his brother James Paul Salles, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. His family described him affectionately as “Kiki,” a nickname that spoke to the closeness he shared with those who knew him best.
Services were entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast in El Paso and included visitation and a funeral service in late May 2020. Those who loved Chris remember him for living life fully, for his generosity of spirit, and for the small, everyday ways he made others smile. He is lovingly remembered by his family and friends, who hold his memory close.
