Chester Gil

Chester “Chet” M. Gil, born November 22, 1974, in Chicago, was a devoted husband and loving father whose presence brought steadiness and warmth to those closest to him. Known to family and friends as Chet, he cherished family gatherings and the everyday moments that build a life—shared meals, quiet conversations, and time spent with his daughter, Alexia Josephine.

Chet was a son and grandson who held family ties dear. He was the beloved husband of Carmela C. (née Panvino) Gil and a loving brother to Jane (Ted) Chraca, John Gil, and Bernadette Gil. He was a proud grandson of Sophia Skupien and counted many relatives among his closest companions, including in-laws Giovanni and Giuseppa Panvino and extended family members who remember his steady kindness and his place at the center of family celebrations.

Those who knew Chet remember a man who took his responsibilities seriously and who delighted in the small, meaningful parts of life—being present for his daughter, supporting his family, and holding close the people who mattered most. He was an uncle and nephew who made family ties richer simply by being there.

Visitation and funeral services were arranged by Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, followed by a Mass at St. Monica Church and entombment at All Saints Cemetery and Mausoleum in Des Plaines, Illinois.
