Charles Wilburn

Charles Andre “Block” Wilburn, Sr., of Spartanburg, was a caring family man and a familiar face in his neighborhood who ran One Stop Nail & Barber with pride. A native of Spartanburg, Charles was devoted to his wife, Amy Stephens Wilburn, and loved being close to his children and grandchildren. He is remembered by family members including his mother, Barbara Jean Gist Wilburn, his children Christopher Andre Robbs, Charles Andre Wilburn, Jr., Andrea Nicole Robbs (Kenyada) McDaniel, and stepchildren, as well as siblings and many nieces, nephews and friends who cherished his company.

Friends and family recall Charles as someone who played an important role in everyday life around him — a small-business owner whose shop was more than a workplace, but a place of friendship and community. Those who knew him speak of his steady presence and the ways he supported and connected with people in Spartanburg.

Funeral services were held April 8, 2018, at New Faith International Church, followed by burial at Heritage Memorial Gardens. In addition to his wife and mother, Charles was preceded in death by his father and by a brother and sister. He leaves behind grandchildren and a wide circle of family and friends who continue to honor his memory.

Though words cannot erase the loss felt by those who loved him, Charles’s life is remembered for its relationships and the simple, everyday kindnesses that made him important to his family and community. He is warmly remembered by those whose lives he touched.
