The story of Cassondra Michelle Wilson

Cassondra Michelle Wilson was a dedicated mother and a committed entrepreneur whose work and civic engagement made an impression across Columbus, Indiana. As founder and CEO of TrainerConnect, she built a business focused on workforce training and development for local employers — a role that reflected her interest in helping people grow their skills and advance in their work. Her leadership extended beyond her company: she served on local business boards, was active with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, and was appointed by the governor to serve on the Indiana Minority Business Council as a commissioner for southern Indiana.

Friends and community leaders remembered Cassondra for her energy and professionalism. Her efforts to build opportunities for workers and to support local employers earned her respect in civic and business circles; local accounts describe her as sharp, engaged, and approachable. She balanced that public life with a deep commitment to her family: she was the mother of three children, who were central to her life.

In May 2020, the Columbus community learned of her sudden death. The loss was felt broadly by neighbors, colleagues, and the many people who had turned to her for guidance and support. In the days after her passing, the family received an outpouring of support from the region and beyond, including community fundraising to help the children with immediate needs. Tributes from local leaders and friends highlighted her devotion to family, her work for small businesses, and the warmth she brought to everyday interactions.

Though public records and news coverage focus on the circumstances surrounding her death, Cassondra’s life was defined by concrete contributions: a small business she founded, civic service in support of supplier diversity and minority business development, and the daily, private care of her children. This remembrance honors those aspects of her life — the work she did to lift others, the roles she held in her community, and the family she loved — and acknowledges the profound loss felt by those who knew her.
